I Shiver – Debüt-EP „Closer“ jetzt überall digital verfügbar

Am 22. Oktober ist die Debüt-EP „Closer“ von I SHIVER, dem Soloprojekt von Konrad Reichel, der u. a. in der Emo-Band Watching Tides (This Charming Man Records) seit Jahren aktiv ist, erschien.

„‚Closer‘ ist eine Platte über Nähe und Distanz, sowohl physisch als auch emotional. Diese sechs Songs spiegeln die emotionalen und buchstäblichen Wege wider, die ich in den letzten Jahren durchschritten habe.
(Erläuterung der Songs und ihrer Reihenfolge:) In ‚Too many Miles‘ geht es im Grunde darum, dass man einen geliebten Menschen so sehr vermisst, dass es einem den Schlaf raubt und man diese beruhigende Hand auf der Brust braucht, um sich sicher und geborgen zu fühlen. ‘Unlearn to swim‘ und ‘Home Now‘ handeln von den schmerzhaften Prozessen des Loslassens von Dingen und Menschen, während man die innere Tiefe, Sicherheit und das Vertrauen zu ihnen vermisst. ‚Everything’ ist ein Song, den ich im Grunde an mich selbst geschrieben habe, um Zeiten zu reflektieren, in denen ich mich hoffnungslos gefühlt habe, mir Selbstvertrauen und Sinnhaftigkeit fehlten. Der aufbauende Trost neu gefundener Hoffnung und Geborgenheit spiegelt sich in ‚Golden Town‘ und auch im Titelsong der Platte ‚Closer‘ wider. Die Reihenfolge der Songs auf dieser EP ist bewusst nicht linear oder thematisch aufeinander abgestimmt, sondern reflektiert Zerstreutheit und die Unregelmäßigkeit der Dinge.“

Ursprünglich sollte die EP zusammen mit dem digitalen Release auch physisch auf Vinyl erscheinen. Die angespannte Lage auf dem Markt/in den Presswerken hat dem Vorhaben am Ende einen Riegel dazwischen geschoben. Für 2022 ist jedoch ein erstes I SHIVER Vinylrelease in Planung.

On Oct 22nd Midsummer Records will release the debut-EP of I SHIVER, the solo project of Konrad Reichel, who is also active in the Emo-Band Watching Tides (This Charming Man Records).

„This Record is about closeness and distance, both physically and emotionally. These six songs are reflecting the emotional and literal journeys I went through during the past years.
(Explanation of the songs and their order:) ‘Too many Miles‘ is basically about missing a loved one so much that it takes away your sleep in need of that calming hand on your chest to make you feel safe and sound. ‘Unlearn to swim‘ and ‘Home Now’ deal with the painful processes of letting things and people go while missing inner depth, safety and trust to them. ‘Everything‘ is a song I kind of wrote to myself trying to reflect on the times I wanted to let it all go and felt hopeless in finding self confidence and a sense of life overall. The uplifting comfort of newly found hope and love are reflected on ‘Golden Town‘ and also on the title track of the record, ‘Closer‘.
The order of the songs on this EP is not linear or themed together on purpose, it’s meant to represent the scatteredness of mind I tend to have and the chaotic ways life takes.“

Originally, the EP was supposed to appear physically on vinyl together with the digital release. In the end, the tense situation on the market/within the pressing plants put a stop to the project. However, a first I SHIVER vinyl release is planned for 2022.
